The soursop is a popular large tropical fruit. Its scientific name is Annona muricata. The flesh is creamy and white with a refreshing sweet and sour flavor. The soursop belongs to the family Annonaceae, which is also known as the Annona family. It is used fresh, in recipes, and medicinally. The skin, seeds, and central core of the fruit are inedible. The soursop has gained popularity in recent years for its medicinal purposes. The leaves are dried and made into a tea which is said to help stop cancer. We mainly eat our soursops fresh. When we have a surplus we peel them, remove the seeds, and freeze the flesh in order to make smoothies later on.
