Kale is the name given to some varieties of leafy greens in the Brassica family. They are normally known for being very cold and frost tolerant. However, we have found them to grow surprisingly well in the heat too! Kale can be used in salads, smoothies, and sautéed into a side dish. It is easy to grow during the winter months in South Florida and they are extremely prolific. It is a great vegetable option for the beginner gardener and a staple in gardens all over.
