Description
Dill is a popular herb originating from the Mediterranean and Southeastern Europe. It is part of theĀ Umbelliferae family. During the cooler months in South Florida, dill is an easy to grow herb. It is famously used to make dill pickles and is a popular addition to the garden. Our favorite way to use it is to make traditional tzatziki sauce. It also goes well with a variety of potato dishes.
Both the leaves and seed heads can be used. It is best direct seeded since it does not tolerate transplanting well due to its long tap root. It has a tendency to bolt so plant multiple successions during the growing season for fresh harvests. However, do not forget to use up the seed heads if it does flower!
